Frequently asked questions
How do I prepare my home for painting?
A very important part before painting is the preparation and protection of the furniture and the floor from paint. A good solution is to make a list in advance of the materials needed to cover and protect.
The main things are:
All pictures or mirrors are to be removed and placed in a safe place before painting the room.
Protective nylon covers for furniture or dustsheets for protection for the floor. Protective nylon, with attached tape for direct mounting on the windows. This will prevent washing and removing annoying drops of paint on them
Protective paper with duct tape – to protect the door sills and frames, electric switches, ceilings or small details of the doors.
If there are any types of furniture in the room, it is best to move them to the middle of the room and wrap them with protective nylon or dustsheets for protection.
What if I want to paint one wall a different colour?
The feature or accent wall will depend on the space, but the wall that comes into view opposite the entrance in most cases works best as the feature wall.
How do I choose the best interior colour?
Light colours work best in dark rooms and make walls and ceilings appear further away, making small rooms feel larger. Dark colours can make a room feel more intimate and cosy. Bright colours give the room a cheerful, upbeat feel. For square rooms, make one wall a feature wall by painting it in a different colour to give the room a more dramatic, less boxy look.
Are you good at DIY?
What tool should I use to paint the walls and ceilings?
A brush or a paint roller?
When painting walls or ceilings with emulsion or latex paint, both tools are often combined. The instrument should be tailored accordingly:
The painted surface area where we paint, how smooth the wall is.

What effect do you want to achieve?
Paintbrushes are used when painting hard-to-reach places or where greater precision is required, along with electric switches, windows, and doors, when painting decorative figures, and cornices.
It should be borne in mind that the brushes, in addition to being of different sizes depending on the type of hair from which they are made, are also used for different paint emulsions to have a good result. Their application also depends on their shape; for example, the bevelled brush is used to cut walls and ceilings or two colours of paint, and the round brush is used to paint corners or to paint furniture.
Paint roller - The paint roller is used for painting large areas. When choosing it, the size also matters for the area of the painted wall and the type of fibre from which it is made.
The type of fibre must be consistent with the type of paint and how smooth or not the surface is to be painted.
The length of the fibre. With shorter fibre, smooth and medium-smooth bases are painted, while with long hair on the roller, rough bases are painted.
Last but not least, the roller handle is an important choice; a comfortable, ergonomic and non-slip handle is a prerequisite for an excellent result when painting.
How to paint? What tools do you need to paint walls and ceilings with paint emulsion or latex?
Once you have packed and protected the floor, sills, furniture, windows and doors, you have to continue to the essential part: painting! Making a list of what you need will again help you not to increase anything.
Take a good look at the walls and ceilings for small cracks or holes you want to fix before you start, and make sure there are no leaks, mold, greasy spots, or rust on the surface.
List of painting tools that you need before you start.
-Microfiber roller with a short fiber of about 22 cm (for basic painting) for semi-smooth painting.
- Roller and brush for cutting the walls and ceilings—or masking tape to separate the colours from the top and walls.
- Smaller microfibre roller (10 cm) – for painting columns or smaller walls
brush in two sizes (60 mm and 25 mm) for painting corners and hard-to-reach places.
- Small spatula or set of stainless steel filing knives plus interior (exterior) filler to correct cracks in the walls
- Sanding paper
